Biography
Nicholas A. Kraft is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at The University of Alabama.
Nicholas received a Ph.D. in Computer Science in May 2007 from the School of Computing at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina. In 2006, he was named the Outstanding Ph.D. Student in Computer Science by the Department of Computer Science* (1 of 1 from 34 students), an Outstanding Graduate Researcher by the College of Engineering and Science (1 of 2 students from over 1,000), and an Outstanding Graduate Student Researcher by the Graduate School and the Clemson University Research Foundation (1 of 2 students from over 3,000); he was the first (and last) student from the Department of Computer Science to win either of the latter two awards. Nicholas also received a Special Faculty Recognition Award from the Department of Computer Science (1 of 2 from 116 students). His thesis advisor was Dr. Brian A. Malloy, and his dissertation committee members were Dr. James F. Power, Dr. Harold C. Grossman, and Dr. Roy P. Pargas.
In 2002, Nicholas graduated with a B.A. in Mathematics from Indiana University Southeast in New Albany, Indiana. He attended IUS for four semesters, making the Dean's list twice and the Chancellor's list twice. Before arriving at the Southeast campus, Nicholas spent one semester at the Bloomington campus. He spent his first five semesters as an undergraduate in the College of Engineering at Purdue University.
